PTSA Sponsored Clubs

VP of Activities, Fran Margolis
 
Chess Club
Student Lead:  Matthew Brubacher
Meets Wednesdays 12:30-2:00pm in Mr. Over's Room #157 beginning 10/5/11.
A club where any can go and play the classical game of chess.
 
Choir
Rehearsals are on Mondays after school 2:30-4:30pm.
This is a year long program with registration held twice yearly.  Fall Semester begins in September.  Spring semester begins in January.  Winter and Spring Concerts.
  
Instrumental Music Program
Chair:  Beth Puryear
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday and Thursdays in the ICS gym after school 2:20-3:20pm.
This is a year long program with registration held twice yearly.  Fall semester from September through December.  Spring semester January through Graduation day.
  
Intramural Soccer
Chair:  Zach Zachwieja
This is a spring sport.
Season begins in April and lasts 6 weeks.  Practice at ICS with Saturday games at Juanitia High School.  Guys and gals, beginner to experienced, the goal is to have a lot of fun.
 
Math Clubs (2011-2012)
There are separate math clubs for each grade, some may be combined grades, each with a parent volunteer as the coach. The goal is to provide a challenging environment that teaches math skills. Participating in math tournaments is a secondary goal, as it provides a way for the students to try their skills in a competitive environment.
 
7th Grade Math Club (2011-2012)
Coaches: Falguni Sarkar and Adam Eversole
Meets: Wednesdays 12-2pm in Mrs Henry's class Rm 130.
 
8th Grade Math Club (2011-2012)
Coaches: Tanmoy Dutta and Mani Sengodan
 
9th - 12th Grade Math Club (2011-2012)
Coaches: Krishnamurthy Ganesan and Chary Gottumukkala
Coach Helper: Shiafun Liu
Meets: Saturdays 3-5pm at Microsoft Building 30. 
 
Ping Pong
Chair: Anu Tewari
Student Lead:

Fee: Free.
Ping Pong Club is an opportunity for students to hang out and play ping pong after school. It is a fun activity with great potential of turning into a passion! There are many benefits associated with the sport, hand-eye coordination, physical activity, mental relaxation and making great friends through the K’nip’ K’nop’!
 
Recreational Volleyball

Robotics Club
Advisor: Helen Henry
Meets: Fridays 2:00pm - 4:30pm beginning October 14, 2011
Fees: Club fee of $175 is due September 30th 2011.  The fees will cover robot parts and competition fees.
Scholarships are available.
The Robotics Club (formed in fall of 2011) will meet once a week after school.  At least two parent volunteers are needed at each weekly session.  Parents with either hardware or software experience, or anyone that is good at working with their hands and building things are ideal.  There are also 5 or 6 competitions throughout the year that will require parent volunteers (transportation, help setting up the events, etc.).  Information and Sign Up Form.

 

Ultimate Frisbee

Begins: Friday September 16, 2011
We will go until Christmas then break for the Ski Bus season. Then start again when the Ski Bus season is over.
Details: No experience or equipment necessary! Meets Fridays after school until 4pm, rain or shine in the lower fields in front of ICS. Learn the game, practice skills and compete with other area Ultimate Frisbee Teams. Practies and games count towards your PE hours. www.upa.org
 
Ski Bus (not a PTSA club due to liability limitations)
