The registration is open for participating in the following math competitions in 2023 - 2024. The introduction session about the competitions was held on Oct 1st, 2023. You may find the same information from the PowerPoint slides presented during the meeting.
- MATHCOUNTS
- Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ICS students.
- A series of four levels: School, Chapter (City), State, and National level.
- Each level is comprised of 2 to 4 rounds: Sprint, Target, Team, and Countdown.
- Competition Dates: School level competition will be on December 13, 2023, the Chapter (City) level in February 2024, the State level will be in March, and the National level will be in May, 2024.
- How to participate:
- Parent fill out the registration form and choose Yes for MATHCOUNTS competition.
- ICS Math Club will inform the parents and students to participate in school level competition which will be held on December 13, 2023.
- Top 12 students will be selected to represent ICS to participate in Chapter level competition (Sprint and Target round), and in addition, 4 students among the 12 will compete in Team round for ICS. Please refer to the deck of the information session for more details.
- Preparation: There are past competition questions at MATHCOUNTS website which are helpful for students to get familiar with the competitions. There are also plenty of materials from the AoPS for students to improve the problem solving skills.
- MATH IS COOL
- Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ICS students.
- 3 teams for each grade, each team can have up to 4 members, optionally with 2 alternatives. Students\parents are encouraged to build their own teams. Students may also participate in the competition as individuals, without joining in a team.
- Competition Date and location for Championship Round: Feb 10 2024, Liberty High School, Renton, WA

- How to participate:
- Parent fill out the registration form and either choose joining the competition as an individual, or join in a team. Students are encouraged to reach out to build teams (with the same grade). If you select the option as individual, your student will be participated as an alternative to a team (to reduce the cost); If you select the option Team, please indicate whether you already have (or going to have) a team to join, or you are open to be selected into a team. You may come back to the registration form later to update your options. The team info will be sent to the host organization a couple of weeks before the competition date.
- Preparation: Students\Teams are expected to practice with MIC the past competitions.
- Math Kangaroo
- Open to all ICS students, and their siblings and friends. There are 30 slots reserved for for the competition.
- 75 minutes, 30 multiple choice question test.
- Competition Date: March 21, 2024.

This year, ICS PTSA Math Club won't be able to host American Mathematics Competitions (AMC 8/10/12 and AIME). The students who are interested in the competitions, can find alternative locations at MAA website.
ICS PTSA Math club is sponsored by PTSA. Parents of the mathletes are expected to join the PTSA as members. The volunteering time with Math Club (by participating the info session, proctoring competitions, and more) are counted to the required volunteer hours, and eligible for employer matching fund program.
