Mission, Goals and Objectives

ICS PTSA Mission

The Mission of the ICS PTSA is to provide financial and volunteer support for programs and activities that complement the curriculum and enhance the overall ICS experience for students, teachers, and parents.

There are 3 major focus areas embedded in this mission:

  1. We provide financial resources
  2. We provide volunteer resources
  3. We run a variety of programs on behalf of the school to enhance the curriculum

Goals

1) Financial

Generate funding for curriculum enrichment, school-wide programs/activities, and site improvements via parent membership fees, matching funds, and passive fundraising.

Objectives

  • Achieve 100% parent membership fee participation by end of October
  • Publish financial plan for uncommitted funds by the yearly budget cycle
  • Develop, review and document funds management procedures during the fiscal year
  • Create a knowledge base for future ICS PTSA treasurers

 

2) Information Support

Provide the communication channels and engagement opportunities that allow PTSA members to contribute their time, talent, and opinions for the betterment of the ICS community.

Objectives

  • Clean up the user database and have a manageable system.
  • Advocacy and taking legislative action to connect ICS PTSA within Washington on behalf of students
  • Knowledge of ample volunteer opportunities and the means to get involved
  • Easy-to-use, well-integrated information technology

 

3) Community and Facilities Support

Facilitate and support the development of programs and activities that promote a strong sense of school community and pride.

Objectives

  • Improve the sense of community at ICS by hosting more community building events and activities for families
  • Create a knowledge base of all chairs’ responsibilities and objective for a smooth transition for C&F VPs from year to year

 

4) Curriculum Support

Enrich student learning and development at ICS by supporting students and ICS staff members.

Objectives

  • Allocate Grants to enhance the educational environment – lab equipment, library books, student clubs, art museum, etc.
  • Arrange Community/Educational Guest Speakers – College Admissions panel, investing
  • Award Scholarships to seniors for their community service and extracurricular activities
  • Arrange SAT/ACT Prep program at attractive rates
  • Manage Reflections Art Program
  • Support students who are falling behind in their classrooms. Provide Tutoring/Homework help to ICS students

5) Activities Support

Support and cultivate high-quality extracurricular activities for ICS students.

Objectives

  • Support existing PTSA clubs and help promote new clubs
  • Sponsor the annual Cultural Arts Day program, along with a separate fund for older students to increase attendance
  • Supplement funds for the graduating class’ activities
  • Build and maintain school partnerships, especially outside of the USA, to broaden the global perspective of students

6) Volunteer Support

Provide volunteers and assistance to the faculty and staff. Work with school programs, activities, clubs, and other organizations to support and enrich the ICS experience and build a sense of community among families.

Objectives

  • 100% of families complete at least 30 hours of volunteer time by the end of this school year. (This does not include those families with extenuating circumstances)
  • Document and implement enhancements to the online volunteer sign-up and volunteer hour reporting process to improve the overall experience
  • Publish detailed job descriptions for all PTSA committee chair positions
